Kia ora from Lizzie,
As we head into the last couple of weeks of the year I've been reflecting on what a year of ups and downs we’ve all had. I am fortunate that joining The Workshop team has led me to understand how impactful strategic framing can be for effective communication and that truly values based organisations really do exist.
Looking ahead to 2025, our team has some important and challenging work, and we are up for the task. To deliver this important work though, we need to grow our team so we are seeking expressions of interest for a mid or senior level narrative advisor to join us and our mahi.
It is a busy time of year so we're making making a list (checking it twice?) of whats in this blog:
We're looking for our next Narrative Advisor or Senior Narrative Advisor
Registrations are still open for our free talk about understanding how Pākehā think about te Tiriti | the Treaty
Closing dates before Christmas for Early Bird pricing for training in 2025.
On behalf of the whole team at The Workshop, we wish you all the best for the holiday season.
Ngā mihi
Lizzie
We're hiring!
We’re looking for a new Narrative Advisor OR Senior Narrative Advisor to join our team in 2025.
We are on the lookout for a curious problem solver, a strategic thinker, and a relationship builder. You are on the look out for a challenging role in a unique organisation that leans into their values. One that helps people see the world through a different lens.
You may have a background in strategic communications with experience in communicating to shift people’s perspectives, implementing evidence based solutions, or working to achieve big change. Or you may have done these things within systems change, policy, advocacy, engagement or social movement roles. Wherever you have been you will be familiar with and passionate about strategic framing and its role in shifting culture and deepening understanding.
This is a can do, sleeves up, practical role. To thrive in this role you will be very open to doing things differently from how you may have before. Working on the implementation side of our organisation, you will need experience (significant for the senior role) in learning about big concepts and new tools, and working alongside different groups of people to help them learn and apply those concepts and tools in their day to day communications.
If you are interested in the senior role you will bring existing relationships and an ability to build relationships with new collaborators and clients, bringing in work and increasing our impact as an organisation.
We welcome expressions of interest from people who bring lived experience of the big issues that we work on, for example equity, racism, health, poverty, disability, queer and justice issues.
We will be appointing at either the mid OR senior level (not both) - it's all about the right person, please let us know which level of experience you have.
If this interests you, or sounds like someone you know please:

Read the Job Descriptions (Senior or Mid-level)
Contact lizzie@theworkshop.org.nz with your CV and a cover letter demonstrating how your skills and experience relate to this role.
We will review applications as they come in, and close off applications on the 20th January 2025.
Free talk on how Pākehā think about te Tiriti | the Treaty
Jess and Minette have been working over the last few months to bring The Workshop’s analysis and tools to how to frame te Tiriti | the Treaty for Pākehā communities. We are mid way through the project, but have released our first report which includes some initial framing advice.
To help get the word out at this busy time of year Jess will be giving a free online talk (via Zoom) about this work and our recommendations. Join us on Wednesday 11 December at 12pm. All you need to do is register using this link.
