Our approach
The Workshop is a unique research organisation in Aotearoa New Zealand. We are public narrative researchers and communications advisors. We draw on many disciplines to understand how public narratives influence people's thinking. We identify how people explain complex issues. We use scientific methods to find narrative strategies that deepen people’s thinking about those issues. We use storytelling tools to upskill people with complex knowledge to craft effective communications.
Our process:
We first listen to understand the big issues, and how people currently understand those issues.
We listen to people’s lived expertise. To experts and knowledge holders. To people across society.
We draw on the latest research to inform our practice.
We research, develop, and test communication strategies that deepen people's thinking. Strategies that encourage good decision-making.
We train researchers, policy makers, advocates and people in media in how to apply these strategies.
We collaborate across fields of practice. We build movements for solutions that improve our collective well-being.
