A report on the opportunities and threats posed to New Zealand’s democracy by digital media. The report includes literature reviews on those opportunities and threats, and evidence as to possible solutions, a quantitative survey of New Zealanders use of social media for democratic activity and a qualitative analysis of 35 in-depth interviews. The research for this report was funded by the New Zealand Law Foundation and Luminate Group.
